Welcome!

We are the Cascia Hall chapter of Students for a Democratic Society (SDS).

Originally established in 1960 in protest of U.S. involvement in Vietnam, SDS was -- and still is -- the largest student-run political organization. Comitted to preserving democratic ideals and pursuing social justice we aim to help Cascia Hall students become more politically informed and engaged members of society.

Students

Education is the cornerstone of any functioning democracy, and we strive to apply what we learn in the classrooms to the public sphere.

Community Members

As students of an Augustinian school, we value serving our community and working diligently to improve the lives of others.

Leaders

17 million Americans are enrolled in high school, yet very few of them have any actual influence. We work to give young people a greater say in politics.

Our Mission

Our mission is to empower students to actively engage in the democratic process, advocate for social justice, and foster a community grounded in inclusivity and equity. We believe that every student has a voice and the potential to be a catalyst for positive change. Cascia Students for a Democratic Society are comitted to:

Promoting Civic Engagement:

Encouraging students to participate in local, national, and global issues through informed discussion, community service, and activism.

Advancing Social Justice:

Addressing social inequalities and advocating for policies and practices that promote fairness, dignity, and respect for all individuals.

Educating for Change:

Providing resources, workshops, and events that enhance students' understanding of democratic principles and social justice issues.

Collaborating for Impact:

Partnering with local organizations, other student groups, and the broader community to amplify our efforts and create meaningful change.
